Songs of Christmas
Could I Bring You Home at Christmastime
Love is fickle, the poets say they wrote it down, in a dark cafe But it’s a bit simpler here, in the USA you must bring her home, on Christmas day… ———
(I’ve got a) question dear and I fear
(it’s) long overdue
(COULD I) BRING YOU HOME,
AT CHRISTMAS TIME?
and meet the whole family too?
(they’re) in a whirl to meet “the girl”
who made the poem rhyme
‘n stole my heart right from the start
(COULD I) BRING YOU HOME AT CHRISTMASTIME?
Uncle Lou will tell all the same stories (YOU HAVE TO LISTEN!)
we pretend that they’re all brand new…(who knew?)
when dinner’s served ’n they bring the bird
we all sing Auld Lang Syne
we clink our glass, so may I ask
(COULD I) BRING YOU HOME AT CHRISTMASTIME?
Mom’s particular about her pecan pie (SAY YOU LOVE IT…)
’n make darn sure you say it’s the best.. (it’s a test…)
it’s been awhile
since I could smile
and dream of a love that’s mine
(so) forgive me this, a bit of bliss
some mistletoe for one sweet kiss
(I’ll) repeat myself for emphasis
I’M SO GLAD YOU CAME AT CHRISTMASTIME

Christmas Lullaby
once a year, we stop and come together
snow on the ground, magic in the air...
I close my eyes, n’ pause to remember
the songs that children sing
of reindeer on the wing...
to dreams that fly
this CHRISTMAS LULLABYE
PEACE TO ALL THE WORLD
AND SILENT BE THE NIGHT...ABOVE
AS WE LOOK UP
TO FILL OUR HEARTS WITH LOVE
and so this year, let your mem’ries be tender...
to those who still believe
on every Christmas eve...
to dreams that fly, this CHRISTMAS LULLABYE
to you & I...this CHRISTMAS LULLABYE
snow on the ground, magic in the air...
I close my eyes, n’ pause to remember
the songs that children sing
of reindeer on the wing...
to dreams that fly
this CHRISTMAS LULLABYE
PEACE TO ALL THE WORLD
AND SILENT BE THE NIGHT...ABOVE

and so this year, let your mem’ries be tender...

to dreams that fly, this CHRISTMAS LULLABYE
to you & I...this CHRISTMAS LULLABYE
